James Hunter died last Sat August ix, after a long spell of sickness, at his residence 6 miles e of this place. He leaves 6 sons and two daughters and a host of other relatives and friends to mourn his loss. His remains were taken to Bethlehem on Lord's day, followed past a very large crowd of relatives and friends. Mr. Hunter was highly esteemed by all who knew him, always jovial and kind-hearted. He was a leading Democrat and a well-to-practice farmer. He was anile almost 70 years. (Poseyville News xvi August 1890)

Mrs. Rister, the aged mother of J.A. and C. Rister was fatally burned last Sat afternoon at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Richard Hunter, due east of New Harmony. At the time of the accident, Mrs. Rister was the only occupant of the house, with the exception of a small grandson, the other members of the family being at church. She was standing in front of a large fire place when she noticed that her skirts were besides aflame. Earlier she could tear her wearable away the flames had enveloped her body and frantic with fear she ran through the house which had the effect of causing the flames to fire swifter. The young boy acted with nifty presence of mind and tried to drown out the flames with a bucket of water but his grandmother'southward motions rendered assistance inaffective. By this time the fire had total possession of the victim'south garments and as they burned loose fell to the floor where they were consumed. (New Harmony Times vi January 1922)

OBITUARY
Decease OF A FRIEND
It is with profound regret that we chronicle the death at 8:30 o'clock of Miss Mary Streamer, the second daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Streamer, and a prominent young lady of this customs. The deceased was 18 years 22 days of age, and Mary was a good and kind hearted girl.

She had many friends and was loved by all who knew her. Mary leaves a father, mother, three sisters and iv brothers to mourn her divergence. Mary'due south girl friends were the drape bearers. They were Misses Eva Wiley, Carrie Hein, Edith Bakery, Anna Blaylock, Nellie Walker and Lizzie Hein. The funeral took place at Bethlehem church on Sabbatum, Apr six, at 11 0'clock, Rev. A. A. Shoultz conducting the services. The remains were laid to remainder in the Bethlehem cemetery.
